BURRRR - It's Cold in Here!

The true extent of our 'rookieness' in being new homeowners was not realized until this evening. It turns out that we were naive in our thinking that since we had set up an account with the propane company and even paid a month's worth into their budget billing program that they would 'top us off' as promised every four to five weeks. NOT SO!

We were sitting in our family room this evening and started to feel a little chilly. Scott got up to flip on our gas fireplace and it didn't ignite... neither did our gas range... You got it, we ran out of propane. SERIOUSLY bad timing. (It's 10:30 pm and the temp in our house is down to 62 degrees and dropping.) Yes, ultimately it was our fault for not checking the propane gage, but the propane company is suppose to fill us every few weeks. Scott promptly got on the phone with the propane company's emergency line and we were told "sorry, we must have just overlooked your paperwork" and that they will be to our house by 6:30 am tomorrow. Kind of a big mess-up. Needless to say we don't have heat or hot water for the duration of the evening. Lucky for us we do have one space heater that we used in the other house, so it is running strong in Kyle's room. Scott and I will have to find other ways to keep warm. Yea us! (Did I just type that? It was suppose to be my inside voice!)

I love that you can be so open and honest with friends. I think that type of situation might be quite fun for just one night!!

I hope you had "fun" keeping warm. Now, you know what it's like in our house when we turn our heat off at night...burrr. But, you've got a big, probably colder house, and no hot water would stink. Thankfully it was only for one night. Crazy propane company!
