Fun at our house!

This is the crazyness right now at our house...This is a view from the inside! They were nice enough to put up plastic to help keep the dust down throughout the rest of the house. Gold Star!

It's loud and seems like it is never going to end, but ultimately it will all be worth it! This is step one of our adventure to finish a room in the basement. They are putting in a full size window to replace the tiny 1ft x 2ft window that the builder originally installed. (You can see it in the second picture.) The guy who we have doing it is great. He's done a lot of home improvement projects for people in our neighborhood. He's priced right and totally honest. Something hard to come by these days! An added bonus is that he was a superintendent for Richmond American homes and actually did quite a bit of work on OUR house when it was being built.

What room are we finishing? A CRAFT AND SEWING ROOM!!! HOORAY! I can't wait to get a room all to myself. Scott can't wait to get our dining room back...and the office. He's such a great sport. It really will be nice though, to have a place that I can dedicate to my sewing/business/scrapbooking. It will definitely be fitted with doors that can lock, to keep little 'helping hands' away when they are not needed!

Like I said this is step one. The bulk of the work will be done in April when Scott's dad comes out for a few weeks to help. Something fun to look forward to!

Crazy Hair Day

Kyle always seems to amaze me. He is growing up so fast and picking up on SO much more than I give him credit for. Yesterday was one of those days that was rewarding and fun to be his mom. (It's the little things in life that I am talking about here.)

After he got out of the bath tub, and I had finished showering he came into my bathroom where I was doing my hair and said..."Mom, I want to have a crazy hair day today. Like Larry Finchfeather." He used asked so nicely and used his words so well that I couldn't resist!

You see, Grandma Sandy gave Kyle a bunch of books for Christmas. He LOVES to have us read to him, and is super quick at memorizing the books and 'reading' them back to us. One of his new favorites is called "Crazy hair Day." Although we didn't put his hair in 'rubber bands and spray it with halloween hair color' like the character in the book, we did managed to pull off a faux-hock (spelling?). He was proud of his 'crazy hair' and had to show it off to everyone we saw yesterday. You can't hardly see it in the picture, but the important thing is that he was happy about the do!

Two shows...Two reactions...

I'm publicly admitting that I'm an addict of the following shows, but what do you do? :) I'm dying to hear what you thought.

First - Sunday night - Amazing Race.
Was that Cheese challenge/roadblock not the funniest thing that you have seen in like forever? Scott and I were laughing SO HARD. I was laughing so hard that my chest hurt and I couldn't catch my breath. In fact, just thinking of it now makes me laugh again. I don't know what it was about watching people fall/run/slide down the hill with huge cheese wheels that was so funny. Did any of you Amazing Race watchers have the same reaction we did?

Second - Monday Night - The Bachelor.
I'm the one who likes watching the Bachelor. (I didn't want to implicate Scott!) This has been a fun season to watch, and for like the first time ever I have guessed the girls correctly that he's gotten rid of. (It's a personal triumph!) I called it a few weeks ago saying that Melissa and Molly were going to be the final two. Anywho, Scott was subjected to watching The Bachelor with me last night because both of the TV tuners were recording something...Bachelor on one and 24 on the other. We hate commercials, so we started the Bachelor (since it was an hour ahead) to let 24 run for a while.
SO, getting to what I really wanted to talk about. It was Scott's turn to laugh his head off. When they showed the preview for the final rose ceremony and all the crazyness of Diana showing up, Scott was laughing SO hard. I just couldn't believe it. So my question is...what do you think? Is it for real? Is she SERIOUSLY trying to get him back? I'm dying to find out.

Okay, that's all. Your input is appreciated!

It's a wrap!

Kyle and I are home from our vacation from Utah safe and sound! Our third week in town was full of fun. It definitely helped that I was finally feeling well and back in action!

Grandpa Monte and Grandma Sherry (Pugmire) came down from Fairview to spend the weekend with us and the others in the valley. We celebrated my nieces birthday (Kate turned 7!) and got to go to church together and just play...so much fun!

Salt Lake warmed up for a few days...at least enough to not completely freeze while being outside! Grandma Sandy totally spoiled Kyle and played outside with him as much as possible. He is such an 'outdoorsey' kid. To be able to play soccer for a while was great. Thanks mom for giving me little breaks here and there. You know how much I totally appreciated it.

We were lucky enough to meet Grandma and Grandpa Pugmire one more time in Provo for dinner and some play time. We ate at a resturant near the University Mall and then went over and walked around a bit and let K-man play on their fun pre-historic play area. The picture to the right was a photo op that I couldn't resist. Kyle was in high heaven walking and holding hands with his grandparents...(I'm pretty sure they enjoyed it too!

I was in town for another fun event...Our oldest niece, Mariah, went on her first date!! It was Sweethearts dance at her high school. She even let me help with her hair! It was fun to see her so excited and looking absolutely adorable. She promised me that she'd send me a picture of she and her date at the dance. I'll be sure to post it when she gets it!

Scott's sister and brother-in-law treated Kyle to a fun afternoon of swimming. It's honestly one of his favorite things to do, so he had a blast! The community pool by their house is AWESOME! I thought that ours was pretty cool, but their children's play area was HUGE. I didn't have my swim suit along, so I was the official picture taker! Laurie and Cody both agreed that Kyle got the award for going up and down the slide the most. (The picture is a great shot of Cody, Kyle, and Zack playing in the waterfall.)

This next picture was just too cute not to post. Uncle Tom is one of Kyle's favorite people. He is so good to play with him when he is around. Kyle had a great time fishin' with Uncle Tom.

And last, but certainly not least...our flight home. Kyle was SUCH a great traveler this trip. He loves being at the airport and on the airplane. (I'm sure one of these trips he is going to realize how not-fun flying is, but for the time being, I'm glad he's a happy traveler.) He was content for the most part to play with his Leap Pad and watch DVD's. Upon our arrival to Dulles the wind was blowing super hard, so the landing was ROUGH. He just laughed his head off and thought the pilot was being 'silly' just for him. Oh the innocence of childhood!

The trip was great, and now it is great to be home!

funny conversation and a book review

We were on our way to the store and had to stop at the gas station...

Kyle: "Momma, why is Grandma outside?"
Me: "She's filling us up with gas sweetheart."
Kyle: "Oh, so we can poop?"
Me: *laughing* "Nope, just so that the car can run."

Seriously, potty training has been one of the hardest part of raising our sweet Kyle.  Some very funny conversations have come out of it.  The best part of that last conversation is that he was not trying to be funny, he was totally serious.  It was a good one!  He knows what gas usually leads to!

On to my random book review.
I read all kinds of books, I really love to read.  I finally read a book that I'm guessing most of you women have already read.  Its 'The Goose Girl' by Shannon Hale.  LOVED IT!!  I read it in like two days and loved every bit of it.  If you haven't taken the time to read it yet, do.  It's catagorized as a Young Adult fantasy, which may scare some of you off, but don't let it.  It is a quick read.  I'm not a huge lover of fantasy (after all, GASP, I've only read like four of the Harry Potters.)  I would catagorize it more as realistic fantasy...if there was such a catagory!  Anyway, I don't usually comment about one of the books I read, but I enjoyed it that much.  I can say that it is definitely in my top 5 reads of all time.
