Grandma to the Rescue!

Hooray! My mom flew in town yesterday. Kyle (and Scott and I) couldn't be more excited! She's going to be here until July 4th. HOW AWESOME IS THAT? We are so blessed that she can come for such a long period of time to help out around here. (Thanks Dad for your support, I know having her gone for SO long is a major sacrifice on your part. WE SO APPRECIATE IT.)

She'll be embarrassed that I am posting this picture, but I think it is cute. Before we were even out of PJ's this morning, Kyle had her busy. I haven't been the most fun play mate lately, but Grandma is always up for fun. (It looks like she's asleep, but I promise she's just looking down at the board!) Before 10 o'clock this morning they had already played at least three different games and read a handful of books. What a lucky boy Kyle is to have such great Grandparents. I'm confident he's going to be spoiled completely rotten in the next six weeks by his Grandma, but we couldn't hope for anything more. Hopefully all the attention he gets from Grandma will help with the transition of having a new baby in the house. (I guess we'll be able to let you know in less than a week!)

There's a light...

...at the end of the tunnel! The official count down is on. Baby Pugmire is scheduled to arrive in just 10 days! The c-section is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th @ 8:30 am.

I can't believe how much different this pregnancy has been. Namely, NO BED REST! It has gone by so much quicker, which I'm sure is due to the fact that I haven't had to lay on the couch and watch Law and Order re-runs for the past four months. I feel pretty well, I have my days, but for the most part I know that I've been blessed. The doctors that I'm going to are awesome. They've kept a close eye on me, and found the right dosage of medication. I think that having them approach the pregnancy with a much more relaxed attitude has really helped me to stay calm too. Its been a win win.

We're definitely starting to get ready for baby around here. Probably not as quickly as some would, but the essentials are ready. The car-seat is out and the cover has been washed, I've pulled out the 0-3 month clothes and the bottles. We haven't set up the crib yet, but the pack-n'-play is ready to go. I bought a pack of newborn and size 1 diapers. Oh, and I do have my hospital bag packed. So, at least we're not totally unprepared!

Throughout the next week and a half we plan to tie up loose ends. With the basement construction things have been kind of crazy, but my mom flies in on Thursday, so she'll be a tremendous help in finishing up stuff. The air is filled with excitement around here! Kyle can't wait to meet his little brother. (We're pretty excited ourselves!)

Awesome Help...

Things are definitely chugging along in our attempt to finish the basement. We're getting close! On Monday night we had a bunch of great helpers to prime all the drywall. The whole Madrishin family came over, it was great!
It was crazy and messy, but loads of fun. Everyone worked really hard, got plenty of paint on them, and made a mess, but our mission was accomplished! The basement is primed. (The benefit of finishing painting before carpet goes down is that the kids can help and drips on the floors don't matter!)

Kyle got himself pretty good when his paint brush broke. He thought he needed to cry at first, but then we got him giggling and it was all good!

I can't wait for everything to be done. I'm excited to have the toys in a central location and all my craft stuff in one place...that place not being the dining room!

Another one bites the dust...

Poor kid...this one was blog worthy, and the photo doesn't even to it complete justice!

Kyle is such an active little boy, so he's always got one bruise or another, but this one comes close to taking the cake! - As part of his night-time/bed-time routine, we count to three and then chase Kyle up the stairs. There is always laughing and yelling involved...good fun. Two nights ago there was a bit of genuine screaming too. As he got to the top of the stairs, his footing gave out and he slipped, right into the corner of the wall. His bruise goes from up in his hair-line all the way down his cheek. It was a nasty fall.

Although we could tell he was in a ton of pain, Scott got him calmed down in record time. Daddy to the rescue! After getting him to take a few deep breaths he took him into the bathroom to show him his 'awesome' purple line on his face. Even through the pain, Kyle could value the humor and 'coolness' of his new bruise. It's two days later, the bruise is just as dark and nasty, but he hasn't complained about it being painfull. (I'm pretty sure that a few people in the community have thought they needed to call the DCFS, but what can you do?)


On a different note, I've been terrible at blogging lately. I've got lots of fun pictures to post of our basement. Scott's Dad, Monte has come and gone. The basement has been framed, sheet rocked, mudded and sanded. We've bought our paint. All we've got to do now is clean up all the sheet rock dust and get to painting. Here's to hoping that we can get it all done before the baby comes!

Easter and House of Bounce

I'm a day late on wishing everyone a Happy Easter. So I'll say 'Hooray...it's Spring' instead!

Kyle got to dye easter eggs on Saturday for the first time. He LOVED it! Scott and I had a little fun too. (Isn't that the fun part of parenting?)

The Easter Bunny made a stop at our house sometime Saturday night/Sunday morning to hide Kyle's dyed eggs and leave the little man with some fun things in his basket. Holidays are so much more fun now that we have a child old enough to really 'get into it'. He gets SO excited over the smallest things, it's great!

Growing up I always got a new dress for Easter, so I've kind of kept the tradition alive for me and Kyle. (Scott not so much because he could care less!) I found a nice maternity shirt and got Kyle his first 'real' suit. I'd say he pulls it off pretty well! (I realize I'm totally prejudice.) I love that Kyle and Scott's suits match.Also, earlier in the week we went to the House of Bounce with a bunch of friends for a few hours. It was crowded because of Spring Break, but the kids all seemed to have a great time regardless. We can't wait to go again when it's a little less busy.Kyle with all of his friends who went to the bounce house.

I'VE PLAYED!

Although it has been odd to have the house so quiet, and I have definitely missed my boys, I've taken full advantage of the situation!! I've kept myself surprisingly busy. Some of the things on my gotten done list:

Scrapbooking

It is not very often that you can completely spread out and take over the whole kitchen for a few days and get some work done. I did precisely that! Scrapbooking is therapeutic to me, so it was fun. Hey, I'm now completely through the first two years of Kyle's life!!

Sewing

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my new sewing machine? I was able to finish a quilt that I started a week or so ago. Again, sewing without little hands wanting to help is oh so much fun!

Pampering

Okay, so not that you want to see my chubby little toes, but I also managed to find my way to the nail salon for a much needed pedicure! Pedicure's are one of my guilty pleasures in life. I usually only get three to four a year, but I love them OH SO MUCH! To go with the theme of my girly weekend I picked a color that I've never chosen before...neon purple!

I talked to the boys a few hours ago just after they got to the airport in Phoenix. They are making the long trek back home (there were no good flights available, so they've got a pretty hefty layover in Atlanta). I've enjoyed the weekend, but I'm ready to have them back home. We'll be sure to post some pictures of their fun trip...so stay tuned!

No Girlz Allowed!

My two favorite people are off on a fun Daddy/Son adventure. They are currently on their way to Arizona to catch some Spring Training baseball games and spend some time with cousins and grandparents. I'm not sure what to do with myself for the next few days...but I'm sure I'll figure something out! ;)

It's been tradition for a lot of years now for Scott's family to go down to Arizona for Spring Training. I might be wrong, but I think the last time Scott got to go was the spring before we got married (8 years ago!) Last year for his birthday he decided that what he wanted was to not get presents for birthday and christmas for the year and to spend the $ on he and Kyle going out to Arizona for a fun weekend of baseball. He's finally getting to cash in! I hope that they have a GREAT time.

I really am going to miss them.
